CDC has released new guidelines for shortening quarantine.
- They still are recommending 14 days but have given allowable alternatives. CDC quarantine 14 days is the best but if the person has remained asymptotic than can end their quarantine at 10 days. They also said if no person has no symptoms and tested negative than the quarantine can end as little as 7 days. New CDC guidelines.
We are trying to get trace force to run 10 days instead of 14 days.
We have updated the Volunteer Handbook. It will be updated today.
We got approval to endorse telling contacts recommending 5 days after they have been exposed.
How soon should they get tested if contacts asked?
- We suggest 5 days or more after to get tested following their exposures.
In TraceForce contacts start date isn't last date of exposure.
- Keep in mind. We don't mean day 5 after you have gone through your isolation. Its day 5 since the last day you have been exposure.
Are these changes depending on LHDs?
- We don't know how each counties are run by.
How many paid contact tracers are there now? How many volunteer tracers?
- Volunteers 650
- Paid 320
Article on contact tracing in MI in Lansing State Journal yesterday did not mention volunteers at all, except as State employees doing CT instead of their regular jobs.
- Any time we're asked media questions about our contact tracing program, we always tell them about our volunteers.
Can the "algorithm" be revised, so TraceForce doesn't present us with callers beyond 10 days? or can we not call any that appear?
- Yes they can change and being updating. ASAP. We are going to be changing it in the next week to a week and a half.
Question re quarantine length & negative test? Does it matter WHEN they were tested (day 1-2 vs day 5-6)?
- After day 5
Why would someone be monitored for 24 days?
- If someone is unable to isolate from the positive case (for example, if the positive case is a small child and the contact is the parent that needs to care for them), then the quarantine period in Traceforce could be the case's full isolation period (say, 10 days) + the full quarantine period of 14 days = 24 days
