Is it possible to limit the number of volunteers that are on in any session?

  • We have been sending volunteer's home before, as far as anything moving forward, we will send volunteers home based on the daily workload.
  • Contacts who share same phone number or live in same household are currently being handled by local health departments. Case investigators are only covering 20% of the people who need to be called. We're waiting for capacity at the LHD level to ramp up and complete more investigations.
  • MDHHS and Rock are working closely to ensure the necessary number of volunteers are present during each shift.

Something I've noticed is there is very few call backs in the last few weeks, why is that?

  • We have onboarded temps to work with the volunteers to field inbound calls and dial out. These calls are being routed to a larger group of people causing individual volunteers to receive less inbound calls per shift.

Asymptomatic contacts getting tested?

  • This was recently addressed in the latest handbook on page 31, and is also available in the knowledge search in TraceForce. We are recommending contacts who are asymptomatic should seek testing 5 days or more after their last exposure date. If a positive case is living in their house, they should seek testing 5 days after the isolation period, for the positive case, has ended.

Can you share with us what the SMS message says? Had a contact who said they are still receiving daily calls after opting into texts.

  • The automatic monitoring text sends a link to a survey that will ask about the contact's symptoms, testing status, and 211 needs. In "Knowledge" in TraceForce the texting script is available for reading.
  • If a household is enrolled in texting, they are going to get a text for each person in monitoring and that can be confusing for contacts.
  • Texts are specific to the contacts, so it will not give us an actual survey to look at. The online survey are all the same questions and in the same order as the script as if we would call them.

Text Message (if it's a cell phone number)

TEXT 1: Thank you for helping Michigan stop the spread of COVID-19! There are many resources available to help you stay home for the next 14 days to keep your loved ones & community members safe. To opt of messages, please reply "STOP."

TEXT 2: For info about preventing the spread of COVID-19 & a list of programs to help you while you're at home, visit https://bit.ly/MICOVIDprotect. If you'd like help signing up for programs, please call 2-1-1 or visit www.Michigan.gov/MIBridges.

11 day monitoring periods? Can we close the case if we talk to them and they are symptom free at 10 days?

  • They will be opted into the 11 day period if they don't have a last date of exposure entered into the system. If they are able to provide a specific date they were last with a positive case, then we are able to update it. If we don't have a "last date of contact" then TraceForce rounds the monitoring period from 10 to 11 days.
  • If the contact is telling you that they know their last exposure, send the contact ID to your shift supervisor, and the LHD will determine if the monitoring period needs to be updated. If the contact does not object to our monitoring then we can continue for the remaining period in TraceForce.

Would it be possible to provide examples of the survey in an updated version of the handbook?

  • This is great feedback and we will look into adding it (if necessary).

Are we expecting this week to be slow and things to pick up the following week?

  • We are still expecting things to be relatively low for a bit until the local health departments complete more case investigations. We do not have a definite date of when volume will increase.
  • Peter: Upcoming holidays will also cause things to remain relatively slow until after the holidays. This is relative to change.

There will not be a debrief on Friday due to Christmas.
