Positives-

  • Working and assessments we are doing is looking great. We are getting the dates into our notes correctly.
  • We are seeing less refused calls and that means we are being friendly on the phone with more contacts willing to follow up with us. Contacts are more willing to follow up with us.
  • Thank you very much for all your dedicated hard work each day!
  • Our contacts are grateful for what we are doing, they are thanking us for checking in on them.

Important details:

We are working on some guidance with the LHD regarding the schooling guidelines. We are trying to cut down on some of that school confusion and try to remind the LHD that they should take those children and follow them on their own. We are trying to get the children that their school has told them they do not have to quarantine out of our queue and have their LHD follow up with them.

What is the rational for some schools and health departments telling parents that their child does not have to quarantine unless there is a positive case in the home?

  • Some school and Health departments have decided that one exposure at a school would not mean multiple exposures due to mitigation
  • Schools with proper social distancing, mask, and precautions are being allowed to decide if a child should quarantine
  • IF the schools and LHD make those decisions we are trying to accommodate them and be as supportive as possible.

Process question- We sometimes ask our supervisors to review a contact monitoring period because the dates are wrong. When we escalate these contacts can we add a note stating that the dates were confirmed, or the dates were changed and why?

  • The State will go in and put in a note stating "Per LHD" or if it is from the LHD themselves.
  • When the state is done with a review they will go in and put a note to confirm end date or change end date. Look for Melody, Meresa, or Mariam from MDHHS for notes about escalations.
  • If there is no note about the date review and it has been over 48 hours a supervisor can send another email to MDHHS for date review.

Again, thank you for all your excellent work you have been putting forward!
